Almost Twice as Many Misses as Hits at New York Fashion Week Fall 2022

New York Fashion Week Fall 2022 is officially over. Heavyweight designers Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren and Marc Jacobs opted out. But the week remained a buzzworthy affair.

Proenza Schouler kicked off proceedings celebrating 20 years in the business with a collection of strong tailoring and covetable carryalls. Ballooning bows and tiered ruffles were a thing at Jason Wu Collection, while at Victor Glemaud an all-black cast was decked out in formfitting creations in a mostly monochromatic palette. Ulla Johnson did what she does best. And Altuzarra took us on a journey through fisherman knits and mermaid dresses.

Meanwhile, Eckhaus Latta marked a decade of delivering genderless and avant-garde fashion. Christian Siriano blended Victorian-era elements with modernity and flaunted the looks on models of all different body types. The hottest ticket in town was LaQuan Smith with Julia Fox opening the show in a sexy cut-out gown almost breaking the internet in the process. Christian Cowan put on an energetic show overlooking New York City’s majestic skyline. Wes Gordon opened his Carolina Herrera show with a white blouse just like the ones routinely favored by the brand’s creator. Plenty of superstars represented Michael Kors Collection (which featured an equally A-list front row) giving us big city glamour.
