Sofia Coppola Fails to Impress With a ‘Flat’ Cover for Vogue Italia (Forum Buzz)

Within minutes of the cover being posted, tFS members had quickly dissected it, with negative results.

KKnardi commented, “She looks good on the cover, but she’s heavily retouched.”

Fluxx also agreed, “Yes, she looks heavily retouched. Just an okay cover for me.”

Cottomouth13‘s knowledge extended his comment and mentioned Sofia’s previous Vogue Italia cover which was back in December 1992: “Finally, it’s here. I kinda like it. Although the retouching on her face is too obvious. And wow, it’s been 21 years since her last VI cover.”

“Rather flat cover,” said Nymphaea

The collaborations between Steven Meisel and Italian Vogue are extremely strong. Meisel has photographed over 300 covers for the publication so it’s hard not to have admiration for the team behind each and every shoot. I, myself, can always see the brilliance, and whilst I’m not a fan of this particular cover, I do look forward to the accompanying cover story.
