We have to admit that we always expect the unexpected when it comes to red carpet fashion at the Grammy Awards. This year we were surprised at the relatively tame nature of most of the looks. Sure, there were a few crazy getups. But most attendees at the 2022 Grammy Awards opted to go glam. Not that we’re complaining.

Lady Gaga and Halsey went Old Hollywood rocking Armani Privé and Pressiat, respectively. Olivia Rodrigo’s Vivienne Westwood gown was enhanced by opera gloves and chokers. Tiffany Haddish sparkled in a glitzy Prada number. Dua Lipa’s elaborate black dress was instantly recognizable as a Versace thanks to all the Medusa accents. And H.E.R. took inspiration from Aretha Franklin for her custom Dundas jumpsuit.

Some stars took a more minimal approach. Hailey Bieber wore a sleek Saint Laurent column gown. Her layered necklace and delicate earrings were also pretty understated. The strappy neckline of Lily Aldridge’s black dress was anything but basic. It also perfectly complemented those strappy sandals.

A couple of suits really turned heads. Brandi Carlile’s Hugo Boss ensemble was blinged out, including the waistband and sides of the trousers. Elle King topped off her red set with an enormous hat.

If you were expecting some crazy getups for this year’s Grammys, you were left sorely disappointed. Sure, Lady Gaga cranked the insanity up just about as high as it would go in a barely-there embellished bolero and short shorts capped off by thigh-high boots, but the majority of attendees kept things relatively low-key. Rihanna rocked an eye-catching orange crop top teamed with a full ballgown black skirt by Armani Privé and Adele stood out in one of Riccardo Tisci’s final Givenchy creations. Showing skin was definitely in with most celebs restraining themselves to extended slits, but a few daring souls flaunted more unconventional peekaboo details. While it was certainly Beyoncé’s night to shine as she performed in grand fashion after announcing to the world she was carrying twins, we were mesmerized by Solange Knowles’ golden Gucci moment (and Blue Ivy’s hot pink suit). Ah, Gaga. Leave it to the singer to absolutely steal the spotlight at this year’s Grammys. This year’s American Music Awards was all about the performances. Sure, there were awards handed out, but the real draw centered around the onstage acts. Host Jennifer Lopez opened the show by belting out her classic “Waiting for Tonight” and then put on an epic dance number to some of 2015’s top tracks. There was a mini Clueless reunion as former co-stars Alicia Silverstone and Jeremy Sisto introduced Gwen Stefani’s performance. Harrison Ford rallied the audience before the Star Wars spectacular performed by Pentatonix and Celine Dion blew the crowd away with her touching tribute to Paris. When it came to fashion, celebs decided to flash a decent amount of skin. Even though quite a few stars skipped the red carpet, there were plenty of eye-catching moments, from Gwen’s over-the-top black sheer gown to Carrie Underwood’s flowing cape and Demi Lovato’s retro statement. Singer and Almay Brand Ambassador Carrie Underwood nailed her beauty look at the 48th Annual CMA Awards in Nashville last week. The evening’s co-host paired her sparkly, bump-friendly dress with classic red carpet makeup. Makeup artist Melissa Schleicher described her look as “timeless beauty” and used Almay products throughout the night.
