We have to admit that we always expect the unexpected when it comes to red carpet fashion at the Grammy Awards. This year we were surprised at the relatively tame nature of most of the looks. Sure, there were a few crazy getups. But most attendees at the 2022 Grammy Awards opted to go glam. Not that we’re complaining.

Lady Gaga and Halsey went Old Hollywood rocking Armani Privé and Pressiat, respectively. Olivia Rodrigo’s Vivienne Westwood gown was enhanced by opera gloves and chokers. Tiffany Haddish sparkled in a glitzy Prada number. Dua Lipa’s elaborate black dress was instantly recognizable as a Versace thanks to all the Medusa accents. And H.E.R. took inspiration from Aretha Franklin for her custom Dundas jumpsuit.

Some stars took a more minimal approach. Hailey Bieber wore a sleek Saint Laurent column gown. Her layered necklace and delicate earrings were also pretty understated. The strappy neckline of Lily Aldridge’s black dress was anything but basic. It also perfectly complemented those strappy sandals.

A couple of suits really turned heads. Brandi Carlile’s Hugo Boss ensemble was blinged out, including the waistband and sides of the trousers. Elle King topped off her red set with an enormous hat.

It’s safe to say Vanity Fair hasn’t exactly been our go-to magazine this year and the only covers to captivate our forum members have been for the annual Hollywood issue at the start of the year, Kristen Stewart for September and Lupita Nyong’o for October. To close out a rather underwhelming year, the magazine picked Chrissy Teigen, John Legend and their two adorable kids to cover its December 2019 issue. The family was styled by Samira Nasr for the cute Mark Seliger-shot image.

“They are so obnoxious and attention-seeking. Zero interest in them,” commented KateTheGreatest.

“Scraping the bottom of the barrel. These two are no better than Kim and Kanye, really. Attention-seeking trolls who would do anything for a headline,” wrote an unimpressed Benn98.

“Vanity Fair thinks this is the magazine we deserve,” laughed tigerrouge.

Also not exactly jumping for joy was mepps: “The most boring and insufferable couple in America. I’ll take a hard pass on this one.”

“This is better as a framed photo on the piano in the family den, not a magazine cover. I’m not buying a magazine for Legend’s kids or the Kardashians’ kids on the cover,” declared dfl-001.

But not everyone shared the same sentiment. “I never got the hate for Chrissy and John, who are a super fun and relatable couple, and John is one hell of a talented musician. Plus, their kids are adorable and this is a great, warm Vanity Fair cover,” raved dodencebt.

The Kardashian clan is growing with a fourth baby on the way via surrogate for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Usually, baby showers are marked by pastel colors and a twee theme, but Kardashian opted for a more unconventional way to celebrate the birth of her son by throwing a CBD baby shower.

CBD, the non-psychoactive extract from cannabis plants, made for an exciting yet chill theme. Kardashian opened the party with a short speech on how a CBD party is what she needed to calm her nerves saying, “So, it’s because I’m freaking out and the baby is coming in like two weeks, I thought what better way to celebrate than with a little CBD? And we’re going to do a sound bath, so we’re going to meditate. This will only be for 10 minutes, but I just thought it would be cool for us to do.”

So it’s no surprise that sister Kendall Jenner was the most-followed model of 2018, with 143.5 million followers on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook combined. Since 2002, Brazilian model Gisele Bündchen has ruled the runways, magazine covers and ad campaigns. But after 15 years, her title of World’s Highest-Paid Model has been passed on to none other than Kendall Jenner.

This year, Jenner served as the face of such brands such as Estée Lauder, La Perla, Calvin Klein, Miu Miu and Adidas. She also walked the runway for Victoria’s Secret, Fendi, Missoni, Moschino and Versace (to name a few) and appeared on numerous magazine covers. According to Forbes, Jenner has earned a whopping $22 million this year. Bündchen’s endorsements earned her $17.5 million this year, modeling for such brands as Carolina Herrera fragrance, Stuart Weitzman and Vivara jewelry.

Besides her name and family background, Jenner is making even more brands line up thanks to her Instagram following, which is currently at 100 million, making her one of the most-followed models this year.

Earlier this year, Jenner came under fire for her controversial statements in Love Magazine: “Since the beginning we’ve been super selective about what shows I would do. I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the fuck those girls do. More power to ‘em. But I had a million jobs, not only catwalks but everything else. The whole combination was very overwhelming and I started to freak out a little bit and needed to take a step back,’ says the 22-year-old, admitting that she “was on the verge of a mental breakdown.”
