Red was clearly trending on the red carpet at the 2022 Oscars. Seems like most attendees got the memo that the fiery color was going to be big at the ceremony. Everyone from Kirsten Dunst to Tracee Ellis Ross to Jennifer Garner flaunted striking gowns in various crimson hues.

Another trend? Sparkles. Lupita Nyong’o really shined in a heavily embellished Prada number. She even sported complementary gold eye makeup. Zendaya’s Valentino haute couture cropped shirt and sequin skirt combo was giving off Sharon Stone and Carolina Herrera vibes. Not that we’re complaining, of course. Jessica Chastain also made a statement in a flashy Gucci gown. Emilia Jones’ glitzy Dolce & Gabbana was pretty epic, too.

Skin was certainly in. Thigh-high slits, plunging necklines and see-through skirts offered plenty of peekaboo moments. Kristen Stewart even rocked short shorts courtesy of Chanel.

There was also lots of blinding bling. Tiffany Haddish’s necklace tied into her Dolce & Gabbana gown perfectly. Rachel Zegler’s choker really upped the ante on her custom Christian Dior haute couture creation. And Zendaya’s stacks of Bvlgari Serpenti Viper diamond bracelets on both arms were something to behold.

Love it or hate it, this year’s American Music Awards was as much about Gigi Hadid as it was the music. The evening’s co-host had several outfit changes, whipped out her fresh Melania Trump impression and her boyfriend Zayn Malik picked up the New Artist of the Year honor. Drake also had a big night, snagging a couple awards, but it was his remix of Taylor Swift’s infamous treadmill rap for Apple Music featuring the rapper belting out “Bad Blood” while working out/dancing that really made an impact.

When it came to fashion, stars were a bit cautious upon arrival, having to navigate the raindrops and wet red carpet without soaking their dresses and jumpsuits. The see-through trend proved it still has legs (and cleavage and arms…) and we spotted a lot of stripes along with monochromatic black and white looks. As a dancer (and two-time champion!) on Dancing with the Stars, Julianne Hough knows how important it is to stay in shape and lead an active lifestyle year-round. Given that the paparazzi magnet spends a good chunk of her life in workout clothes, she also knows how important it is to have fitness apparel that is as functional as it is fashionable. Fittingly, she teamed up with yoga and dance-inspired activewear/athleisure line MPG to design a special collection. In between promos for her new MPG line and working on the latest season of Dancing with the Stars, we caught up with the actress and dancer to ask her our quickfire questions.

1. My guilty pleasure is… Italian food! I love pasta and pizza.
2. When I’m stressed, I… go take a yoga class. I always find that helps clear my mind and gives me great positive endorphins.
3. My absolute all-time favorite song is… U2’s “One”.
4. This celebrity should appear on Dancing with the Stars… hmm, hard to say, but I think it would amazing if Kelly Ripa were on the show!
5. If I could trade closets with one person it would be… Chiara Ferragni.
6. The most treasured item in my closet is… my Maple Leafs jersey.
7. When I’m low on energy, I… put on music and move around! If I sit on my butt, I’ll lose even more energy!
8. My beauty essentials include… Anastasia Tweezers, Brett Freedman Laser Brow Pencil, La Mer lip balm and my Proactiv+ Makeup Cleansing Wipes.
9. If you looked at my desktop you’d find… a TON of wedding inspiration photos!
10. If my days had one extra hour… I would probably spend it snuggling Lexi and Harley.
11. My favorite workout is… I love to mix it up! I take classes at Anna Kaiser AKT, Tracy Anderson, Body by Simone, SoulCycle and CorePower Yoga. It’s hard to choose just one.
12. What I love most about working out is… that it helps me sweat the stress out!
13. When shopping for fitness apparel, it’s important… to find pieces that make you feel comfortable and confident in your body and motivated to work out.
14. The most surprising thing about my job is… that it’s always surprising me! Things can change on a dime and I love it.
15. My secret talent is… I’m not sure I would call it a “talent” per se (because I’m not sure how good I am), but I love singing in an opera voice!

19. To stay healthy when traveling it’s important… to drink water! The first thing I do after I go through security is fill up my canteen.
20. My morning routine includes… going over three things I’m grateful for, drink a juice and head out the door to my morning workout.
21. My favorite place in the world is… Idaho. My family spent the summers on a lake there and it is, to this day, my favorite place in the world.

We’re talking everything from bright jewel tones to heavily embellished stunners to more streamlined black and white fare. Of course, there are always a few key elements that have the habit of recurring. Capes and capelets were trending, while tiers of ruffles, strategic cut-outs and unconventional trains all added extra oomph to several looks. Although skin was also in, it was restricted to relatively refined glimpses via plunging necklines, somewhat see-through skirts and the aforementioned cut-outs.
