The hype surrounding Kendall Jenner remains in full force, and editors and designers across the globe continue to trip over themselves to endorse the American model. Last year alone, Kendall graced the covers of Vogue Italia, American Vogue, W Magazine and became to face of Miu Miu, Stella McCartney, Gucci and Jacquemus to name just a select few. One label hellbent on keeping the model in the spotlight is Calvin Klein, who welcomes Jenner back for the third time running, with the unveiling of the Spring 2024 campaign. In an attempt to switch things up somewhat, Mert Alas is brought in as campaign photographer (replacing Inez & Vinoodh). The Turkish lensman takes us outside of the studio this season, as we venture out into the hustle and bustle of New York City. Styled by Emmanuelle Alt, Kendall roams various different locations within the city, shot both in full color and in black and white.

“These could be for literally anything. They could be Kendall’s toothpaste ads if she were smiling! What happened to Calvin Klein? Why would they shoot such bland items that show no brand identity?” asked tomtakesphotos.

Matthieu Blazy has been at the helm of Bottega Veneta as creative director since 2020, and despite numerous covetable collections for the Italian fashion label, Blazy’s campaigns have ultimately failed to generate a whole lot of buzz here on theFashionSpot or break new ground within the industry. For Pre-Spring 2024, the Belgian-French designer commissioned images from wire image agencies such as Getty Images and Backgrid, ditching photographic duo Louise & Maria Thornfeldt who captured Veneta’s Fall 2023 campaign offering. Throughout the series of paparazzi-style campaign starring rapper A$AP Rocky and model Kendall Jenner, the duo go about their business around various different locations – decked out in Blazy’s latest designs (obvi).

Naturally, it didn’t take long for members of our forums to sound off. “I really don’t like this campaign, just because it’s something Demna would do at Balenciaga and we don’t need that energy at Bottega Veneta AT ALL,” exclaimed perhydrol.

“This just feels tacky and lazy. You know Demna is kicking himself for not coming up with this concept first,” laughed Steddycam91.

“What in the Balenciaga! Blazy just doesn’t know what to do with his Bottega,” Thefrenchy chimed in.

Also underwhelmed with the campaign was lookatme, adding: “Give me a break. These brands just keep lowering the bar. It’s kind of shocking and almost comical to think the entire management and design team think this is worth putting out!”

“This is lazy on another kind of level,” voiced matheus_s.

Kendall Jenner remains a force to be reckoned with. The world of fashion continues to champion the 28-year-old American model and media personality like there’s no tomorrow, with mega brands such as Gucci, Stella McCartney, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu and Jimmy Choo having bent over backwards to make Kendall the face of their collections throughout 2023. Jacquemus is the latest to jump on the Jenner bandwagon with the unveiling of his Holiday 2023 advertising campaign for the upcoming festive season. Via the lens of Drew Vickers, Kendall plays with some festive props (like skis, roller skates, a string of retro tree lights, Santa hats and even snow in the middle of Los Angeles) as she models the French designer’s newest collection entitled ‘Guirlande’ for his eponymous fashion label which Simon Porte Jacquemus founded himself back in 2009.

Members of our forums weren’t in the mood for festivities, upon seeing the end result, however. “Mediocrity – the model,” voiced FAdS.

“She makes this look so generic. He would have got a lot more bang for his buck if he booked Rianne van Rompaey or Vittoria Ceretti,” GivenchyHomme explained.

“This is the embodiment of ‘go girl, give us nothing’. It is so bad,” noted Yasouss.

Vogue28 replied: “Even more so for a holiday campaign! Despite the inclusion of the festive props, there’s a total lack of holiday charm here.”

“Bleh, never been one for this type of photography. The wintery close-up of Kendall smiling is an odd one out, it’s a beautiful shot! Very Glenda [Bailey]’s Harper’s Bazaar in a way. The rest is entirely forgettable – but then again, so is all of Jacquemus (and Drew Vickers for that matter),” commented aracic.

Sabato de Sarno will be on a mission for the foreseeable to wipe the slate clean at Gucci. The designer started on a high by giving us a sneak peek at his first advertising campaign as creative director of the storied Italian fashion house back in August, unveiling a high jewelry campaign starring model Daria Werbowy. Now, following his debut collection unveiled during Milan Fashion Week for Spring 2024, De Sarno’s first Gucci Valigeria advertising campaign is here, starring Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny. Throughout the series of campaign images, inspired by celebrity and paparazzi culture, the couple roam the airport toting luggage from Gucci’s signature Savoy collection while captured by photographer Anthony Seklaoui.

Ultimately, the end result left a lot to be desired according to our forums. “A whole new level of CRINGE! And after such a strong start from Sabato de Sarno with the Daria Werbowy campaign,” sighed vogue28.
“Words can not fathom how much I resent everything about this,” chimed in aracic.
“Gucci can’t be this desperate!” exclaimed VERNIQUE.
“I’m sorry but this is poorly executed. How desperate of them,” echoed TaylorBinque in agreement.
“They look like one of those annoying content creator couples at the airport,” laughed PierreGotha.
Forum member Ihhbl described the campaign as “CRINGE!” but do you agree?

Mert Alas (of the photographic duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott) recently went solo to photograph Dua Lipa for Vogue France and is now out on his lonesome once again to capture not one but six spectacular covers for W Magazine’s mega Fall Fashion Issue for 2023. Editor Sara Moonves welcomes Kaia Gerber, Anok Yai, Gigi Hadid, Mona Tougaard, Liu Wen and Kendall Jenner as cover girls for the occasion, who each front their respective fierce and fabulous covers, donning looks from brands such as Celine, Fendi, Burberry, Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton.

As always with a multi-selection of covers, members of our forums were quick to select their fave. “I like them all, but my favorite is actually Gigi’s,” immediately voiced kokobombon.
“Really into the art direction! The Gigi cover is my fave. Marie-Amelie Sauvé really made the Burberry look interesting and desirable,” GivenchyAddict admired.
“I love these. These instantly took me back to Vogue Paris’ special collections editorials. The mix of outdoor shots then you’ll have studio portraits. Can’t believe W Magazine takes the cake,” MON chimed in.
Also very much a fan was Ihhbl, commenting: “I like Anok’s, it’s so different from the others. Gigi also looks great!”
“Terrific to see W Magazine back on full form, and feels like Christmas has came early with the massive ‘fashion!’ splashed across the cover, in addition to the rather terrific selection of covers. The art direction immediately transported me back to 2008 (in the very best way). Out of all the six covers, Gigi’s is my most fave,” vogue28 raved.

Whether you’re a fan of Kendall Jenner or not, there’s simply no denying the 27-year-old nepo model has a rather stellar body of work when it comes to her modeling portfolio. Throughout 2023 (thus far) in advertising campaigns alone, the American beauty has bagged herself campaigns for a whole multitude of mega fashion brands such as Jimmy Choo, Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs and more recently for Calvin Klein. Now, in yet another addition to Kendall’s ever-growing portfolio is a Stella McCartney campaign for the Fall 2023 season.

The dynamic campaign is a continuation of McCartney’s spectacular showcase during Paris Fashion Week back in March, in which McCartney’s love and appreciation for all-things equestrian was on full display. The British designer and sustainability advocate (this collection itself consists of pieces crafted from 92% responsible materials) presented her Fall 2023 offering on location at the historic Manège de l’École Militaire, France’s oldest riding school, as models walked alongside ponies provided by renowned horse whisperer and rescuer Jean-Francois Pignon.
Photographed by Harley Weir at the Camargue Salt Flats in the south of France, Kendall now models and poses up a storm (practically becoming a horse whisperer herself) throughout the cinematic series of campaign images alongside majestic white ponies which are native to the region and were raised by Pignon.

Since its inception back in 2014, the American edition of Harper’s Bazaar have bestowed upon us their annual icons issue with each and every September issue and the magazine is showing no signs of dropping the tradition anytime soon.
Under the tutelage of the publication’s current editor Samira Nasr, this year’s inductees into Bazaar‘s icon hall of fame for September 2023 are Kendall Jenner, Doja Cat and Paul Mescal. The trio of cover stars are each given their own solo cover for the event, all appearing before the lens of photographer Mario Sorrenti. Kendall Jenner, in her cover shot (above), wears Miu Miu while Doja Cat (below) wears a show-stopping creation from Dolce & Gabbana and Paul Mascal (after the jump) sports Gucci – all selected by stylist Beat Bolliger.

Per usual, members of our forums were quick to respond to the covers. “Icons? What icons?” asked WilliamsLe010919.
“Where are the icons?” MON laughed.
“I totally forbid the use of the word ICON from a fashion magazine until the end of time!” declared Kerg.
“Bland and boring, two words which are now synonymous with Samira Nasr’s Harper’s Bazaar. Absolutely no surprise AT ALL to see these covers, not even for such a celebratory month like September, have zero oomph or pizazz to them. A downright embarrassment to declare this an issue dedicated to icons – and deliver us this,” voiced vogue28.
“You wouldn’t think these are supposed to be September covers! Everything is just so cold and sterile. The fact that they wanted Kendall AND Doja screams desperation, such a massive red flag,” Benn98 pointed out.

The series of images feature a mix of the photographic duo’s signature black and white studio-shot images and photos captured on location, around plush hotel corridors, poolside under the warm Los Angeles sunshine and seemingly backstage behind the campaign shoot itself.

There are certain closet staples we temporarily bid adieu to during summer. Our heavy coats, leather pants and heat-retaining accessories. Many also place cardigans on that temporarily inappropriate list. Not so fast. There’s a way you can still keep the cover-ups in rotation even in the midst of a heat wave. Just pick up some cropped cardigans.

Kendall Jenner recently demonstrated just how well they translate this time of year. She topped off her belted white pants and matching kitten heel pumps with a fiery version from Miaou. It has summer written all over it. Thanks to the sweater’s cropped nature, she was able to rock the look without breaking a sweat.

Of course we have to address the elephant in the room. Those barely-closed, ultra-revealing options brands like Jacquemus are offering en masse. If you feel confident enough to wear one, go for it. (Although certain takes are better suited to the real world.) But that’s not all that’s available. There are stylish takes that provide more coverage where the closures are placed right under the bust. Then there are the sweaters that allow you to expose just your midriff.

It’s also vital to pay attention to fabric. There’s no tolerance for heavy wool iterations meant for winter layering. Long sleeves are allowed, however. Especially if your cardigan is also off the shoulder.
