There’s always a strong sense of renewal in the air whenever the February issues of our fave fashion glossies drop. It’s our first look at the new season and the vast majority of magazines came out this month in full force, in an attempt to impress – and succeeded. From Vogue Turkey eating up the other editions of Vogue with a “sharp, sexy and minimalist” Grace Elizabeth cover to American ELLE proving you can never truly go wrong with a flawless portrait cover image of Penélope Cruz. However, on the opposite end of the spectrum, the team behind Flaunt‘s February 2024 cover shoot ultimately rendered Cindy Crawford unrecognizable and just how did American Harper’s Bazaar manage to do THE Gisele Bündchen a disservice?

Scroll further to see which February 2024 covers made the cut (and which didn’t) this month, all in accordance to theFashionSpot’s unfiltered forum members:

The spectacle we call Vogue World conquered New York in 2022, took over London in 2023 and is heading to Paris for 2024. Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 23 as the celebratory and buzz-worthy event is set to kick-start the Fall 2024 season of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week.

Vogue World: Paris is set to be an outright celebration and fusion of fashion and sport (ahead of the Paris Olympic Games which commence Friday, July 26 ). Youth athletic academies from throughout France will take part, including gymnastics, tennis, fencing, and break dancing, among others. These sports will be paired with the theme of French fashion for every decade since 1924, when the French capital last hosted the Olympic games. Set to take place on the famed Place Vendôme, surrounded by haute couture ateliers at the center of the First Arrondissement.

To help bring the spectacle to life, we’ll see contributions from Carine Roitfeld and Ib Kamara, both set to spearhead the fashion looks. Dame Pat McGrath will be in charge of the beauty looks, in addition to Parris Goebel overseeing artistic direction and choreography.

To say we here at theFashionSpot are excited, with these names involved already, would be an understatement. Not going to be in Paris? You need not worry. The event is due to be streamed live from Paris on June 23.

Stay tuned for more updates. Mark your calendars for June 23 – GO!

Just days before New York Fashion Week is due to kick off, the news has dropped that Gap Inc. have signed Zac Posen as executive vice president and creative director. The American designer who shuttered his namesake label back in 2019, is perhaps best known for red carpet dressing. Posen will ultimately oversee design across Gap Inc’s four brands: Gap, Banana Republic, Athleta and Old Navy.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Zac Posen, one of America’s most celebrated designers, at the onset of an exciting new chapter for Gap Inc. His technical expertise and cultural clarity have consistently evolved American fashion, making him a great fit for the company as we ignite a new culture of creativity across the portfolio and reinvigorate our storied brands,” said Richard Dickson, President and CEO of Gap Inc.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Looks like Gap is desperate to reclaim their classic all-American past image again…” [Phuel]

“I think Gap has been doing fairly well, recently. Not sure why/if this is necessary.” [KoV]

“Doesn’t Gap only sell things like bland jeans and t-shirts? What’s the point of having a creative director?” [Tchi]

“This must be THE worst business decision ever.” [90sFan]

“Gap is such a basics-oriented brand, the last thing it needed was to infuse that with too much over-complicated and ambitioned design, that would only alienate that customer. Christophe Lemaire’s or Jil Sander’s work for Uniqlo can serve as an example as to how a happy marriage of fashion and quality staples can look like, delivering a product that is honest at that price range.” [tricotineacetat]

“Nothing about this makes sense. Phillip Lim would have been perfect for the job! I don’t expect success out of this to be honest.” [Lola701}

The Kelly and Birkin handbags from Hermès have been considered pieces of iconography for decades. Toted by A-list celebrities, fashion enthusiasts and the most notable style icons of both past and present – Hermès handbags are considered an investment and have stood the test of time.

Did you know just one single Kelly takes a whole 13 hours to create?

Thanks to Vogue‘s latest YouTube drop, we’re able to bare witness to the inner workings of the masterful Hermès ateliers in the fascinating 10-minute video. Priscila Alexandre Spring, the leather goods creative director at the historic and storied French label, gives us a tour of the facility located within the heart of Paris. Priscila introduces us to the talented artisans who craft the luxury and exclusive leather goods, introducing us to each department, including the hardware and harmony departments. Inside the Atelier Harmonie, Hermès craftsman Fabrice hand stitches a black Kelly, which is made entirely inside out and requires extreme precision and expertise. Needless to say, the video is fascinating from start to finish.

Most of our favorite fashion titles opt to combine December with January but a select few remain in favor of giving us a standalone January issue. Vogue Mexico went all out having managed to secure Selena Gomez for a cover, who posed amongst floral displays wearing new season Prada. Penélope Cruz and Luigi & Iango proved to be a match made in heaven (once again) via the cover of Vanity Fair Italia while Rania Benchegra served nothing but face on a duo of Vogue Arabia covers.

Scroll further to see which January 2024 covers ultimately made the cut (and which didn’t) according to theFashionSpot’s unfiltered forum members:

Following the sudden and tragic passing of David Renne, Moschino found themselves without a creative director but have since filled with the void with the appointment of Adrian Appiolaza. The Argentinian designer will oversee womenswear, menswear and accessories collections at the Aeffe-owned house and is set to unveil his debut collection during Milan Fashion Week’s upcoming Fall 2024 season on February 22.

Prior to landing the gig at Moschino, Appiolaza previously held the position of womenwear’s ready-to-wear design director at Chloé working under Clare Waight Keller, before taking up the same position at Loewe under Jonathan Anderson.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“I’m actually impressed how Aeffe tried to find someone actually talented! I must say, I’m genuinely curious about Appiolaza’s direction for Moschino, at least it’s not going to be based on some brainless hype.” [perhydrol]

“Damn he got no time to rest and no time until his debut.” [tourbillions]

“Curious about this one! And curious as to how Loewe will shift with him gone.” [lookatme]

“YES! I’m immensely proud of my friend. Finally someone who actually knows how to make great clothes is going to be in charge of a big brand. He’s also the first Argentinian to get a top job like this one.” [helmutnotdead]

“Adrian is very talented, I think he really helped shape Loewe, but he does have his own soul. I am sure that this will be good!” [Tchi]

“This looks like a great appointment, someone with experience and an amazing background of having worked at different brands. I’m sure he’ll be great, I’m rooting for him.” [donyan]

“Never heard about him but seems like a good match. Rooting for him as well!” [Ihhbl]

Ermanno Scervino has stayed switching it up with his campaign girls – until now. After welcoming Natalia Vodianova as the face of the Fall 2023 collection, Scervino welcomes the Russian beauty back for a second consecutive season with the unveiling of the Spring 2024 campaign.

Flashback to the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 seasons, Joan Smalls was the last model to pose for two back-to-back Scervino campaigns until the Italian designer began to dish out spots to models Edita Vilkeviciute, Lila Moss, Jean Campbell and Vittoria Ceretti.

For the sake of continuity, Scervino keeps Luigi & Iango on the books as campaign photographers, who reunite with Natalia once again for the Spring 2024 season. This time around, the photographic duo photograph the Russian beauty in full color, as opposed to black and white which has been the running trend for a number of campaign seasons.

“For his spring/summer 2024 show held during Milan Fashion Week, Ermanno Scervino distills the very essence of clothing, building a wardrobe of one-of-a-kinds, unique pieces that spotlight the mastery of the brand’s atelier and its craftspeople’s sartorial know-how. Billowing A-line gowns as impalpable and flowing as vapor are ethereal canvas exuding subtle sensuality. Bustier dresses framing the torso are the framework for floral hand-embroideries. Plissè frills cascade, as petals hitting the ground, from tight bodices. Sophisticated slip dresses, delicately trimmed in lace, rib-knit frocks and see-through black gowns, both revealing and immaculate, add a dash of mischievous charm.” – via ermannoscervino.com

Throughout the series of campaign images, Natalia embodies the ultimate Scervino woman with an effortless ease and the switch to color photography from Luigi & Iango feels like a breath of fresh air.
