Aya Kanai continues to make big moves over at Marie Claire by steering the magazine in the right direction following Anne Fulenwider’s sudden departure. Kanai’s first cover featured forum favorite Gisele Bündchen followed by an equally gorgeous Megan Thee Stallion installment. As a result of the pandemic, Marie Claire doubled up for June and July with Dakota Johnson serving as cover star. Now Janet Mock stars on the publication’s cover for its inaugural digital edition for August 2020. The American writer, director and activist wears a jacket and sweater from Hugo Boss teamed with a pair of statement Balmain earrings for the utterly gorgeous cover image captured by Luke Gilford.

“I love this, purely for how warm and engaging the cover image is — those colors are gorgeous and I love the statement earrings. Not to mention how refreshing a cover subject Janet Mock is. Major kudos to Aya Kanai over this!” raved vogue28.

[Piece Of Me] was also an admirer: “She is getting covers left, right and center and it couldn’t be more deserved. Stunning once again.”

“So happy to see her on the cover, sadly it’s not her best photo. This woman can photograph so well, and wear high fashion, so it is kind of a letdown they used this,” commented Miss Dalloway.

Couples posing together on Vogue is something we have to endure from time to time (think Kimye, the Beckhams and Hailey and Justin Bieber). The latest twosome to make an appearance on Vogue Germany is Toni Garrn and Alex Pettyfer. Appropriately fronting the issue dedicated to love, the newly-engaged pair share an embrace in the June 2020 cover shot captured on location in Miami by photographer Giampaolo Sgura. Complete with styling from Christiane Arp, Toni wears a ruffled Alexander McQueen number while Alex dons Hugo Boss.

Members of our forums weren’t fawning over the outcome. “Not into couple covers. Looks like Australian Vogue,” pointed out Srdjan.

“Wow, not only is her dress hideous but his outfit as well. Everything looks very sloppy. Then you have Toni staring at whoever but not the camera with the odd bit of her hair blowing. Everything looks so random here,” noted Benn98.

“The styling and the background have zero harmony. Sadly, Toni doesn’t look her best here and that straight-yet-off-camera eye contact is just wrong. Not a good cover,” Valentine27 chimed in.

A.D.C. wasn’t too impressed, either. “Is this the cover of a pirate romance novel?”

Forum member anaa lpz shared the same sentiment: “The cover really is perfect for a smutty pirate romance novel.”

“I am more than willing to admit that even the cover of American Vogue with Hailey and Justin Bieber was far more beautiful and natural than this. It’s an eyesore — from Toni’s vacant expression to the blatant Photoshopping on Alex’s face to the ruffled dress clashing with the backdrop,” voiced vogue28.

The cover also seemed very familiar to VogueDisciple93: “Is this a reprint? I am sure I have seen this image before.”

“Victoria is a very lovely person but I am so bored seeing her on photos. She always looks the same! It is super annoying!” DutchHomme added.

Nymphaea felt the same way. “It’s getting repetitive,” she complained.

Yet not everyone was left unsatisfied. “I get what you guys are saying about her expression but I really like this cover,” KissMiss admitted.

“Very sophisticated. I don’t care for Victoria but I might get this if it looks nice in real life,” noted a presently surprised Srdjan.

Members of our forums welcomed the campaign with open arms. “Oh wow, interesting! I’m getting faint Chloe vibes from Anna’s shot, but I love this. This is the first campaign under [Jason] Wu which I’m instantly mad about,” admired Benn98.

“Amazing! I love the settings and cast. Anything Clément, I’m up for it. His shot is beautiful. Anna’s shot looks nice as well,” simon added.
Also showing great enthusiasm toward the campaign was Aedlacir: “As more pictures come out the more breathless I become. I&V did fine work on this campaign. Anna is demure and Clément gets better with age. On point!!”

“Loving this campaign so much! Anna and Clément look good. Love the concept. It’s a nice work of I&V,” declared thatsfierce.

Forum members laced straight into the campaign with jescajade almost falling asleep with the word “yawn.”

“I never disliked Edie. In fact, I liked her a lot a year ago. However, she’s starting to bore me. She’s outdated. Trite. Stale. A dynamic model would have made the boring clothes and setting come to life. I’m sure there was enough budget to hire Raquel Zimmermann,” hoped anlabe32.

“Agreed, a more dynamic model would’ve made this better. Amanda Murphy would’ve looked great. Still, this isn’t terrible,” responded littlekiki.

Benn98 wasn’t impressed either. “Edie isn’t a terrible model, but she just needs to take the quirk down a bit. Jason Wu needs to get his sh*t together because I’ve not seen a good campaign since he took control,” he complained.

Sharing the same attitude was Nomar: “In the first two pics I think there is way too much negative space it just looks odd. Edie is quickly becoming lackluster in my eyes and this campaign is easily forgettable – YAWN.”

“I absolutely hate the set,” noted Royal-Galliano.

Our forum members had mixed reactions toward the new campaign. “Why did they give Abbey that god awful hairstyle? The hair from the runway show would have looked so much sleeker. I can’t even look at anything else,” slammed valliaddict.

Benn98 was also underwhelmed with the result and echoed, “Eek! Not what I expected, Abbey doesn’t look her best here. Hopefully the rest will be better.”

GivenchyHomme just simply wasn’t feeling Hugo Boss’ offering this season and proclaimed, “I prefer last season’s campaign with Edie. Abbey isn’t doing it for me.”

Opinions shortly changed inside the thread, though. “I like Abbey’s pic a lot. It seems that they continued the idea of last season, but it’s an improvement so kudos to Abbey,” enthused a satisfied Avogadro.

“In love with Abbey’s picture as well. I don’t mind the hairstyle so much, it’s very Abbey and Abbey is just pure love,” shared a positive anlabe32.

Nepenthes was also a fan: “I actually really love Abbey’s shot!”

“Love Abbey’s presence, kinda breaks with the brand’s overall boredom imo,” stated kokobombon.

She opted for a classic-black suit with satin lapels from Hugo Boss’ Spring 2015 collection, designed by Jason Wu, and kept things tough and masculine with a slicked-back hair do.

We love how she was able to doll the ensemble up with sparkly pointed-toe heels, pearl drop earrings, a gold choker necklace and a bold-red lip. We’ve never seen the blonde bombshell look so fierce, and we’re totally digging it.

Justaguy shared the majority sentiment: “Good casting and perfect Fall/Winter feel, but it feels a bit lackluster. It’s almost like Scott’s shots needed more movement to mirror Edie or something.”

“This campaign is not extraordinary, but still it’s okay. I love Edie and I think they wanted to try something new with her and the jumping motion. It doesn’t really fit the image I had of Hugo Boss. However I love the styling!” wrote Emmaneulle.
