It has been a never-ending guessing game over on theFashionSpot forums for months. Speculating, just as to who might crop up on the cover of Edward Enninful’s final issue of British Vogue. Since June 2023, upon the news of Enninful departing the British fashion bible after a rather remarkable 7-year stint, names like Beyoncé were thrown around with regards to his final cover star. Needless to say, we didn’t see this one coming…

Forgoing just the one cover star, Enninful called upon a whopping 40 of his chosenVogue icons for his concluding cover. As a result, Karen Elson, Irina Shayk, Laverne Cox, Anya Taylor-Joy, Serena Williams, Rina Sawayama, Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Cindy Crawford, Amber Valletta, Precious Lee, Jodie Comer, Gemma Chan, Adut Akech, Vittoria Ceretti, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Cata Delevingne, Jane Fonda, Gigi Hadid, Linda Evangelista, Adwoa Aboah, Miley Cyrus, Paloma Elsesser, Iman, Victoria Beckham, Ariana DeBose, Jameela Jamil, Oprah, Selma Hayek, Christy Turlington, Salma Blair, Maya Jama, Kate Moss, Cynthia Erivo, Simone Ashley, Lila Moss, Anok Yai, Kaia Gerber, Naomi Campbell and Dua Lipa grace the cover. The women flocked together in New York, and assemble for a group photograph before the lens of Steven Meisel.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Thank you, Edward. Thank you fashion gods! It’s a very interesting mix of cover subjects, some greats, some less than greats. Everyone looks fantastic, not a single woman looks unflattering here and that’s exactly what you want in a group cover, ” approved aracic.

LastNight was of the same mind, echoing: “I really like it! I think it’s quite striking and impressive to get all those people together.”

“I mean it’s a nice flex for him to have all these names on his last issue, but the composition is awful,” chimed in Marc10.

Thiago commented: “The Photoshop is terrible but that’s a proper farewell – Steven Meisel and legends!”

“It’s insane that they managed to actually get everyone there and still made it look like it’s a completely fake, Photoshopped group picture,” exclaimed lookatme.

“The cover isn’t groundbreaking enough, but you can’t make me hate it. Edward is such a mastermind, and I will surely miss his Vogue era,” shared forum member crmsn.

Caioherreo most definitely wasn’t all too impressed, describing the cover as “super boring” but do you agree?

Marc Jacobs has depended upon Juergen Teller a great deal to capture his vision for his eponymous fashion label. You might not even need reminding of the instantly-iconic Spring 2008 campaign with Victoria Beckham. To celebrate 40 years in the biz, Jacobs reunites with Teller for his celebratory Spring 2024 and ushers in a handful of his muses from past and present for the occasion. FKA Twigs, Dakota Fanning, Cindy Sherman, Lila Moss, Lil Uzi Vert and Bladee assemble in front of the Marc Jacobs offices in New York, each toting a selection of the American designer’s signature handbags (including the The Sack Bag, The Tote Bag and The Snapshot) – complete with even Jacobs and Teller making appearances themselves.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“I will never understand the appeal of FKA Twigs – or this campaign. Everything sucks now,” critiqued lookatme.

“Terrible and unappealing,” said a less than impressed Lax89.

Thefrenchy was also left seriously underwhelmed, expressing: “I’m sorry but this is just lazy and lame.”

“This is horrendous – from the casting to the pedestrian photography. What’s there to strive toward here? So lank, lifeless and downright depressing. To think this is essentially a 40th anniversary campaign is beyond me,” voiced an unforgiving vogue28.

“Art direction-wise, I get what they were trying to pull off here. Unfortunately, it just ended up looking so cheap,” sighed notfatgoddess.

“Marc always has a good cast of people that I enjoy immensely, like Sofia [Coppola] and Cindy Sherman, but I always struggle to see the appeal of the brand. It was luxe before, but maybe within the past decade or so, it feels more inessential,” voiced forum member dontbeadrag.

UK Vogue December 2023 by Tim Walker

In the world of magazines, one could argue December is just as important as September. After all, it’s the time in which a magazine closes out the past twelve months, and we’ve come to expect a great deal from our fave fashion glossies around this time of the year.

As Edward Enninful rounds out his tenure at British Vogue, the Brit fashion bible is bestowing upon us a full-on Tim Walker extravaganza for December 2023. Echoing the theme of Enninful’s very first issue, British Vogue‘s latest is a merriment of British talent. Across a total of six celebratory covers pose actresses Olivia Colman, Jodie Comer and Tilda Swimton. Also in the lineup are rappers Stromzy and Little Simz and mother-daughter duo Kate and Lila Moss. Enninful himself reported for styling duties, selecting all-white looks from British fashion houses such as Erdem, 16Arlington, Vivienne Westwood, Richard Quinn, Charles Jeffrey Loverboy and Alexander McQueen.

However, upon checking out the covers, members of theFashionSpot forums were far from in the mood to celebrate. “British Vogue on a budget,” shrieked mepps.

“I miss the old times of obvious styled themes. ‘Great Britain’ and we get white styling on white backgrounds, celebrities making stupid faces. Vogue on a low budget, how times have changed,” kokobombon echoed.

“Apparently in Edward’s mind decadent festive glamour is also cancelled, just like creative vision, talent and imagination,” fumed forum member SanderGreen.

Ihhbl wasn’t feeling it either, crying out: “This is soooo underwhelming and lackluster!”

“I remember when Tim Walker used to create dazzling editorials with gorgeous clothes. What happened?” questioned gallianostan.

“A truly horrible series of covers, and not even the inclusion of my faves Kate and Lila Moss is enough to save this. I already dislike Tim Walker’s photography enough as it is, and then to give me this when all I wanted was festive glamour is… a slap in the face from Enninful,” a disapproving vogue28 voiced.

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | MARC PIASECKI/GETTY IMAGES

It’s universally known that if you want to be a model, you’ve got to be tall. For a lot of us, 5’9″ is a pretty good height, but in the fashion industry, that’s on the shorter side for a model. That doesn’t mean, however, that girls who aren’t blessed with longer legs can’t still have successful careers. In fact, there are plenty of women who have proved that, although they might not stand as tall as most models, they can still make it–like these 17 top models, all of whom are under 5’9″:

1. Lily-Rose Depp

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | TAYLOR HILL/GETTY IMAGES

Lily-Rose Depp may only be 5’3″, but she looms large in Karl Lagerfeld’s mind. The Chanel muse has walked many a tweed-filled runway (Haute Couture Spring 2017, Pre-Fall 2017, Haute Couture Fall 2015) and starred in various beauty and eyewear campaigns for the brand. Depp has already graced a fair number of magazine covers, among them Jalouse, LOVE, V Magazine, Vogue Paris, British Vogue, ELLE France, ELLE Greece and Vanity Fair France. We suppose she has her equally petite, preternaturally beautiful mom to thank.

2. Lottie Moss

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | TAYLOR HILL/GETTY IMAGES

Much like her big sister Kate Moss, Lottie Moss has risen within the industry despite being (somewhat) vertically challenged. (Needless to say, the family affiliation didn’t hurt.) The 5’6″ British beauty has fronted campaigns for Topshop, Chanel, Bulgari and RED Valentino. She’s walked the runways of Sonia Rykiel, Topshop Unique and Chanel and graced a handful of covers, the most notable being Vogue Paris’ May 2016 edition, which she shared with fellow genetically #blessed millennial Lucky Blue Smith.

3. Hailey Bieber

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | PASCAL LE SEGRETAIN/GETTY IMAGES

Instagirl Hailey Bieber is one of the most visible models of our time thanks (in part) to the 5’7″ blonde’s close friendship with the Jenner and Hadid sisters – and being married to Justin Bieber. Nevertheless, the IMG signee — who’s walked for the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, Jeremy Scott, Prabal Gurung, Elie Saab, Tory Burch, Off-White, Zadig & Voltaire and Tommy Hilfiger — has more than earned her stripes. She has fronted campaigns for Guess, Karl Lagerfeld, Tommy Jeans, Calvin Klein, Versace, Miu Miu, UGG. In June 2022, the American beauty unveiled Rhode – a line of efficacious, intentional skincare essentials.

4. Sofia Richie Grainge

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | PAUL MORIGI/GETTY IMAGES

Sofia Richie Grainge (daughter of Lionel Richie) is successfully forged her own identity in the modeling industry and now considered a style icon. The 5’6″, beauty has fronted Complex, Wonderland, Town & Country, walked the runways of Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Yeezy and Philipp Plein and appeared in the pages of W, V Magazine, Vogue Japan and Seventeen, among others.

5. Adwoa Aboah

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | LIA TOBY/GETTY IMAGES

Freckle-faced Ghanaian-British beauty Adwoa Aboah is a force to be reckoned with. The 5’8″ 24-year-old is a Vogue (and Vogue.com) favorite thanks to her fresh, rebellious personal style. Not that she needed the validation. Aboah has walked nearly every runway of note (Miu Miu, Chanel, Christian Dior, Fenty x Puma, Versace, Fendi, Moschino, Marc Jacobs, Kenzo) and starred in countless high-profile campaigns (Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Sephora). In 2017, Aboah jumped to the silver screen as Ghost in the Shell’s Lia.

6. Rose Bertram

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | MIKE COPPOLA/GETTY IMAGES

Rose Bertram, a 5’7″ bombshell known for her curly mane and killer curves, is a favorite of Sports Illustrated, LOVE, H&M and Jeremy Scott. The IMG signee and Instagirl on the rise has also worked with beauty giant L’Oréal Paris and luxury lingerie retailer Agent Provocateur, among others.

7. Sara Sampaio

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | MIKE MARSLAND/GETTY IMAGES

As far as Victoria’s Secret Angels go, 5’8″ Sara Sampaio is a bit on the “short” side. Still, Portugal’s most photogenic export is a mainstay on the international catwalks. In 2017, she’s strutted Balmain, Mugler, Elie Saab, Alberta Ferretti, Baja East, Marchesa, Tory Burch, Prabal Gurung and Tommy Hilfiger. Her list of recent campaign appearances is almost as long-winded — Moroccanoil, Victoria’s Secret, Blumarine, Hogan… Oh, and she’s already got Vogue, LOVE and Editorialist features under her belt.

8. Emily Ratajkowski

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | KARWAI TANG/GETTY IMAGES

You’ve definitely had an eyeful of 5’7″ Emily Ratajkowski — you’ll remember her from 2013’s controversial “Blurred Lines” music video and 2014’s movie adaptation of Gone Girl. But Ratajkowski’s a model first. Her formidable CV includes a turn on Miu Miu’s Fall 2016 runway, a spot in Marc Jacobs’ sprawling Spring 2016 ad campaign and stints on the covers of CR Fashion Book, GQ Spain and British Vogue. Oh, and she’s a firm fave of Donatella Versace.

9. Marisa Miller

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | JON KOPALOFF/GETTY IMAGES

Marisa Miller would be a babe no matter her height, which is 5’8″, to be exact. The American fashion model is known best for looking scrumptious in Sports Illustrated and for Victoria’s Secret.

10. Kate Moss

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | DIMITRIOS KAMBOURIS/GETTY IMAGES

Kate Moss is an industry icon, which is amazing, considering shes’ only 5’7″. But her keen modeling abilities and dangerous, cool-girl vibe we all wish we had have turned her into one of the most successful faces in the world.

11. Cara Delevingne

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | ARTURO HOLMES/GETTY IMAGES

Cara Delevingne‘s height has been reported to be anywhere between 5’7″ and 5’8″. One thing’s for sure, she’s definitely not traditional runway height. Her agent once tried to get her cast in Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2012 show, but she was cut when Marc Jacobs asked, “Why is that dwarf in there?”

12. Devon Aoki

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | CINDY ORD/GETTY IMAGES

Devon Aoki is one of the shortest high fashion models out there, and has enjoyed a lot of success through her career. In the late 90s, she became the face of Versace and also posed for Chanel, Kenzo, Moschino, Fendi and many more. How tall is she? Just 5’5″.

13. Camille Rowe

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | KEVIN MAZUR/GETTY IMAGES

Camille Rowe has landed campaigns with Chloé, Aldo, Dior Homme, H&M and more, as well as multiple covers of ELLE France. She’s also posed for Victoria’s Secret at only 5’7″. Not bad for a “short” girl, right?

14. Lila Moss

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | DAVE KOTINSKY/GETTY IMAGES

After posing alongside her model mother Kate Moss on Vogue Italia’s July 2016 edition, it was only a matter of time before Lila Moss reached superstardom. At 5’3″, Lila has secured campaigns for a whole multitude of fashion houses including Ermanno Scervino, Versace, Marc Jacobs and appeared on the magazine covers of British Vogue, Vogue Japan and Vanity Fair Italia to name a select few.

15. Liberty Ross

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | KARWAI TANG/GETTY IMAGES

Liberty Ross‘ 5’6″ frame certainly was not a problem for Burberry, Emanuel Ungaro or Jimmy Choo–they all chose her to front their campaigns.

16. Lydia Hearst

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | AMANDA EDWARDS/GETTY IMAGES

While it helps that your family is one of the most powerful in the publishing industry when you’re trying to start a modeling career, Lydia Hearst has had a lot of success–not because of her name. She’s landed campaigns for Juicy Couture, Pringle of Scotland, Swarovski and more. Not to mention the sizeable amount of print work she’s done for international versions of VogueMarie ClaireElle and more. The 5’7″ Hearst has been so successful, that she was chosen to be a mentor for season 2 of Naomi Campbell’s modeling reality competition, The Face.

17. Laetitia Casta

17 Short Models Who Made It Big
IMAGE | STEPHANE CARDINALE-CORBIS/GETTY IMAGES

Laetitia Casta has had a tremendously successful career in spite of her 5’6″ height. The credits are as far as the eye can see: A contract with L’Oréal Paris, a stint as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, covers of Vogue, ELLE, i-D as well as jobs modeling for Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Roberto CavalliVivienne Westwood and countless others.

UK Vogue May 2022 : Lila Moss by Steven Meisel

Edward Enninful sure likes to give the front covers of British Vogue to subjects who’ve never appeared on the fashion glossy before. Since 2017 everyone from Adwoa Aboah to Irina Shayk to Angelina Jolie to Judi Dench have made their debuts. Now it’s Lila Moss’ turn for May 2022. The daughter of modeling royalty Kate Moss wears a Prada dress and a Noel Stewart bonnet courtesy of Joe McKenna for the stunning shot snapped by Steven Meisel.

The end result split our forums. “I actually quite like it. It’s a nice spring cover. The U.K. edition always does well when it does this modern-version-of-vintage-Vogue look. It’s not groundbreaking, but it works,” appreciated LastNight.

“Not bad. I like the pastel colors,” admired crmsnsnwflks.

“Obsessed with the cover just as much as I am over the fact Steven Meisel was willing to photograph Lila Moss! Very much appreciate the fashion-forward styling with the Noel Stewart bonnet. The cover photograph itself is poised, elegant and beautiful in its simplicity,” raved vogue28.

Although not everyone is impressed. “Nothing works. Lila is bland on a whole other level. Nepotism at its best I guess. NEXT!” declared Bertrando3.

“What a ridiculous cover,” added liberty33r1b.

“Lila isn’t it. And ALL these people can’t help her. What a lame cover,” critiqued Norden.

“This would have been aced if they just pulled her hair back into a simple style. The baby bonnet looks silly and not fashion forward,” noted dfl-001.

“Just stick a pacifier in her mouth to complete the baby fetish. Sheesh,” said Phuel.

Vogue Hong Kong October 2021 : Lila Moss by Felix Cooper

Very slowly but surely, we’re coming to the realization that Lila Moss is here to stay. On the magazine cover front alone, the daughter of modeling royalty Kate Moss has covered Dazed, V Magazine, Chaos SixtyNine, Vogue Italia and Vogue Japan within a few short years. Now she adds more magazine covers to her ever-growing portfolio. The current face of Dsquared2 graces Vogue Hong Kong for October 2021 just six months after her supermodel mom helped the magazine celebrate its four-year milestone. The young model is styled by Patti Wilson in looks from Gucci’s Fall 2021 collection for two covers photographed by Felix Cooper.

According to our forum members, however, Lila Moss fatigue has already begun. “I’m tired of these models using their last names as an advantage for their career. Lila doesn’t even seem to make an effort to live up to her mother’s legacy…” said DK92.

“Lila certainly isn’t Kate,” remarked kokobombon.

“They are really trying so hard to make this girl happen,” Fiona3 chimed in.

“Is she pretty? Yes, but forgettable, not like her mom,” shared JPineapple.

“She is pretty but…I think she’ll find more success if she aims to be an actor or something else,” wrote oaklee91.

“Lila Moss is young and pretty, but her appearing on a Vogue cover is about as interesting as hearing about a friend’s daughter passing their driving test. You wish them all the best in life, but it’s just not very relevant or momentous for anyone outside of the family,” voiced tigerrouge.

“Both covers are cute and it’s a shame that the first cover isn’t zoomed out a bit. We can complain as much as we like, but this girl isn’t going anywhere…” noted WAVES.

Lila Moss’ star continues to rise with the daughter of modeling royalty Kate Moss scoring fashion gigs left, right and center. She’s already landed covers for V Magazine, Vogue Italia and Chaos SixtyNine. Not to mention notable runway appearances for Miu Miu and Fendi. Lila’s latest accomplishment? Gracing Vogue Japan for April 2021. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Lila receives the quintessential Luigi & Iango treatment sporting a retro-inspired hairdo along with a piece from Tomo Koizumi’s capsule collection with Emilio Pucci courtesy of Anna Dello Russo for the sultry cover shot.

The cover divided our forums. “This is the first time that I see her as a real model. I love this cover!” raved crmsnsnwflks.

“This is the best she’s looked thus far… It’s giving me very Kate Moss British Vogue June 2013 by Patrick Demarchelier vibes,” said Wagon1974.

“A beautiful image of Lila, no doubt thanks to Luigi & Iango’s (re)touch! This is undoubtedly a tribute to Kate’s photoshoot for British Vogue and a good one at that!” proclaimed aracic.

“I think this cover looks great! What irks me is that Luigi & Iango sorta Photoshopped her into looking like a clone of Kate…” disapproved russianelf.

“That’s the first time I actually like her, but still I wonder why are they trying so hard to make her happen,” shared namelesscloud.

“Who is next? This new wave of nepotism models is the worst. I am more surprised about Lila wearing Tomo Koizumi, who is not even Vogue-worthy!” exclaimed JohannesL.

Moxie Remon definitely agreed: “God, I miss the days when they’d just pull a model from an obscure place and give us something actually worthy. This is just sad.”

Vogue Italia December 2020 : Lila Moss by David Sims

The fashion industry continues to embrace the daughter of supermodel Kate Moss. This year alone we’ve watched Lila Moss grace the covers of V Magazine and Chaos SixtyNine, become the face of Marc Jacobs along with Miu Miu and make her official runway debut at Paris Fashion Week. Now after fronting Vogue Italia alongside her mother, Lila rounds out her breakout year by going solo on the magazine’s December 2020 cover. Photographed by David Sims and styled by Max Pearmain, the Brit beauty poses with her eyes closed sporting a striped Dolce & Gabbana blazer for The Gratitude Issue.

Members of our forums couldn’t believe their eyes. “This is just horrible,” proclaimed liberty33r1b.

“That hand looks so weird,” mikel pointed out.

“The foreshortening on the hand is not working,” agreed RedSmokeRise.

MON isn’t willing to take a trip down to the newsstand, either. “Vogue Italia is now a mockery of what it once was. Farneti and his team ruined this magazine. How they constantly get away with such crap baffles me.”

“I’m tired of his team at Italian Vogue, it’s horrendous. They get great visionaries like David Sims who can create beautiful and interesting images and this is what they get him to create,” exclaimed Blayne266.

“Not a cute solo debut for Lila. She looks quite good and I feel like this could’ve been a stellar cover if it wasn’t for the usual Farneti gimmick and disgusting art direction. If her eyes were open, her hand down, less wind in the hair and a better layout, it could’ve been a hit!” said aracic.

“Burn this magazine to the ground and salt the earth,” voiced an underwhelmed marsnoop2.

V Magazine #125 Summer 2020 by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

A selection of top models is sometimes all it takes to lift our spirits. So we are absolutely thrilled to see V Magazine serve up a plethora of fashion’s finest with the unveiling of its Summer 2020 issue. Not just one but a grand total of 15 beauties appear on the mag’s latest: Kaia Gerber, Adut Akech, He Cong, Lila Moss, Rebecca Leigh Longendyke, Rianne Van Rompaey, Vaughan Ollier, Mica Argañaraz, Adwoa Aboah, Ugbad Abdi, Grace Elizabeth, Lola Nicon, Vivienne Rohner, Zso Varju and Mariam de Vinzelle. All of whom were photographed in stark black and white by Dutch photographic duo Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

As usual with multi-covers, only a select few stood out. “Kaia looks incredible, very Gia Carangi,” Marc10 pointed out.

“Kaia looks so beautiful. Her cover alone would’ve been enough,” MyNameIs chimed in.

“Adut, Rianne and Mariam are the winners here. The other ones are unnecessary,” said jorgepalomo.

Also quick to add their two cents was aracic: “My favorite of the bunch is definitely Adwoa, it’s very captivating. I also love Rianne and Adut’s covers. Great work!”

“The best covers are Adut, Lola, Vaughan and (choking as I’m typing this) Adwoa,” confessed Benn98.

MON wasn’t buying it. “WHERE are the SUPERMODELS?”

“Supermodels in 1990, 2000 or 2010 were unforgettable beauties with well-established careers. Supermodels in 2020 are a few good faces, but also a collection of famous surnames with watered-down genetics plus some average-looking people the industry uses to market social trends,” critiqued tigerrouge.

Dazed Winter 2018 : Lila Moss by Tim Walker

After news last month that the mini-me daughter of Kate Moss had become the face of Marc Jacobs Beauty, it was only a matter of time before Lila Moss made an appearance at our local newsstand. The fresh-faced 16-year-old can now add the cover of Dazed to her portfolio as she graces the Winter 2018 issue — and why wouldn’t she? Her father, Jefferson Hack, is the co-founder of the magazine. But the cover of Dazed isn’t exactly Lila’s first major cover appearance, as she once shared the spotlight with Kate on Vogue Italia‘s June 2016 issue. This time around, Lila poses for photographer Tim Walker and is styled by Katy England (Lila’s godmother) in a look from Hedi Slimane’s debut Celine collection.

A whole lot of nepotism? Or did our forum members have a whole lot of love for the cover? “I’m sorry but she looks terrible. When is this nepotism trend going to end?” asked Perickles at once.

“This is nepotism taken to a whole other level. The daughter of the founder of the magazine and a supermodel wearing an outfit made by a friend of both parents,” laughed Lola701.

“At least Kaia [Geber] looks like a model, Moss junior does not. The cover is tragic, please stay in school,” said Fiona3.

“LOL, everything about this is bad and laughable,” remarked mistress_f.

Benn98 wasn’t exactly here for it, either. “This was supposed to be something a bit more epic. Her first magazine cover as a model. But it’s not and I’m underwhelmed. [David] Sims should’ve shot this because the one shot of her for Another was stunning. Snoozefest,” he voiced.

“It’s cute I guess. A bit bland, considering Tim Walker and Katy England are behind this,” wrote russianelf.

A little too much too soon? Await more from Lila’s Dazed shoot and join the debate here.
