Kate Moss Now Has Her Own Talent Agency (and Instagram!)

After years and years of ruling the modeling industry (her team doesn’t even have a final tally of the number of Vogue covers she’s graced, reports Business of Fashion), how does an OG like Kate Moss keep life interesting? By starting her own talent agency, natch.

Since her public split with longtime agency Storm Models earlier this year (the two were together 27 campaign-filled years), we’ve wondered why Moss hadn’t signed to a rival agency. Now we know. In an extremely business-savvy move, the 13th highest-paid model in the world hired her loyal (former Storm) agent, Lucy Baxter, to help spearhead and quietly lay the groundwork for Kate Moss Agency, which will launch later this month.

Of branching out and entering this new phase of fashion world domination, the model told BoF, “I felt like I wanted to do things that were more than modeling. It didn’t matter how much we would try and do it together with them, I was always going to be the little Kate that they’ve known since I was 14. It was like leaving home. I had to leave, and they were very understanding about it.”

It follows that Kate’s eponymous talent management endeavor will not only focus on finding fresh faces for the runways, it will also represent aspiring actors, singers and dancers — because if anyone knows that je-ne-sais-quoi trumps genetics, it’s the 5’7″ superstar. “It’s a dream!” she gushed to BoF. “It’s so weird. You know that film Gia? Faye Dunaway plays the agent. I could so do that! But I want to focus more on managing people’s careers than just [running] a modeling agency. I don’t really want pretty people, I want people that want to sing and dance and act — I want to create stars.”

You can keep a watchful eye on all the ripe talent Moss and Baxter are sure to discover via the agency’s Instagram page, which is already up, running and 340K followers strong at time of publishing. (First Kanye, now Kate…what other Insta-naysayers will pop up on the ‘Gram this week?)
