Last night (in addition to the 2024 PGA Awards), the 2024 Film Independent Spirit Awards took place down on Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, California. Celebrating the best of indie film and TV, the star-studded red carpet was more of a mellow affair as opposed to the high-glamour of the 2024 Golden Globes. Thanks to the relaxed dress code, fun jumpsuits, two-pieces and even some red-carpet socks were on full display. Emma Corrin’s look made for a serious style moment, arriving dressed in a pair of statement lime green socks, teamed with a little black dress from Miu Miu (a custom creation inspired by Miuccia Prada’s Spring 1998 collection). Natalie Portman wore a hand-crafted red leather ensemble from Balmain while Greta Lee (never failing to make a best-dressed list) donned a white sculptural dress from Lii.

The 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place last night in Los Angeles, California to honor the best achievements in film and television performances of the past year. Since Interview relaunched back in 2018, the magazine hasn’t exactly been at the forefront of cutting-edge fashion photography. So it usually goes unnoticed by our forum members. The last time the title captured our attention was over a year ago with Naomi Campbell (and for all the wrong reasons). Fast-forward to Interview‘s Summer 2022 edition starring Anne Hathaway who pops up on the American publication 11 years after her last appearance. Photographed by Collier Schorr and styled by Dara Allen, the Oscar-winning actress poses before a pink backdrop working a harness top and bike shorts from Christian Dior’s Fall 2022 collection.

Needless to say, members of our forums aren’t impressed. “WTF is that? Is Anne Hathaway cosplaying Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?” asked avonlea002.

“Oh hunny, this styling…” stated KINGofVERSAILLES.

“Oh no this is so bad. The styling,” echoed BlueRuin.

“Atrocious… I could never see another photograph captured by Collier Schorr again and I’d be quite OK. Awful on all sorts of levels and amazed at the styling (or lack thereof) from Dara Allen,” proclaimed vogue28.

“It’s very amateur and the styling is nonsensical,” added YohjiAddict.

Urban Stylin also questioned the styling: “The cover is all kinds of weird, looks like she’s wearing a bulletproof vest.”

“The cover is bland…” critiqued an underwhelmed VogueGirl8910.

“Marilyn Monroe is not looking down and smiling fondly at this,” tigerrouge pointed out.

After skipping 2020 and scaling back for 2021 due to the pandemic, the 2022 Cannes International Film Festival is back in full force. Which is great for us since it usually produces fashion moments on par with the Met Gala and the Oscars. Although we have to admit, a decent amount of looks were relatively lackluster.

When it comes to designers, certain ones reigned supreme. We witnessed several dresses from Valentino’s Fall 2022 offering, aka the pink collection, take to the red carpet. Sharon Stone stuck with Dolce & Gabbana probably because she stars in the Italian fashion house’s new handbag campaign. As usual, there were plenty of haute couture looks to go around. Fendi, Armani Privé, Elie Saab, Christian Dior and Chanel are just a small sampling. Custom creations were also trending with Cara Delevingne’s revealing Balmain gown one of the standouts.

The jewelry was also something to behold. Especially when it came to necklaces. Julianne Moore’s Bottega Veneta dress was amplified by Bulgari’s Eden The Garden of Wonders necklace, for example.

On the beauty front, hair really turned heads. Bella Hadid’s wet-look hairdo with sculpted strands in the middle of her forehead really made a statement. As did Grace Elizabeth’s piecey pixie.
