Versace ‘Virtus’ Handbags 2021 : Bella Hadid by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

Bella Hadid Becomes the Face of Versace’s Virtus Handbag Collection

Despite forum favorites Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott set as Versace’s campaign photographers, this season’s mainline Dua Lipa offering ultimately failed to impress. The photographic duo is back to capture the iconic Italian fashion house’s latest handbag advertising campaign with Bella Hadid showcasing its new signature Virtus line for 2021. In the sleek images, the Versace runway regular and face of the brand’s Dylan Blue fragrance poses before a gray studio backdrop sporting a voluminous hairdo while toting different variations of the quilted handbag.

But something wasn’t quite right, at least according to our forum members. “Ugly as hell handbag and they’ve made Bella look 45,” complained Serend1pity.

“When you order a Chanel bag from Wish,” proclaimed KINGofVERSAILLES.

“And you also add a questionable wig to your cart,” replied aracic. “Could’ve been great, has all the right elements and yet it’s rather flat.”

“I can’t stop staring at that ugly hairdo,” called out a disapproving guimon.

“Bella Hadid can’t carry this by herself. Also, boring and bad styling. Yikes,” declared an unforgiving littlekiki.

Although not everyone shared the same sentiment. “I like it, I think she looks stunning as always. The wig adds some Versace humor as it seems like a reference to the old money, Stepford wives-type ‘do,” noted Overindulgence.

“I do struggle to critique Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott’s signature studio shoots and this (along with Dua Lipa’s campaign) just feels…right. The clean setup and sleek styling allow the handbags to sing and I honestly love Bella’s voluminous hairdo here…” approved vogue28.
