Flashback 10 Years Ago to the Fall 2014 Season of Milan Fashion Week

Ahead of Milan Fashion Week Fall 2024, we’re flashing it back to the Fall 2014 season and just like in both New York and London – the fashion landscape a whole decade ago was immensely different.

For starters, Frida Giannini was the creative force behind Gucci, who transported us back to the sixties for a collection worthy of being worn by modeling legend Jean Shrimpton. Giannini offered a series of short, structured dresses including several in leather, their bodices decorated with bold encrustations of crystals. Tomas Maier was at the helm of Bottega Veneta and the Fall 2014 season of MFW was the season in which gave us Jeremy Scott’s kitsch, camp and utterly iconic McDonald’s-inspired Moschino collection. At Prada, Miuccia Prada continued the theme of the menswear show from January, seemingly inspired by German avant-garde culture. Alberta Ferretti took us into the woods, with exquisite textures evoking tree bark. Donatella’s display at Versace marked a departure for the iconic designer, who unveiled a totally understated collection, having ditched the quintessential Versace razzle-dazzle.
