Tyler Mitchell is the photographer du jour according to Maximilian Davis, as the Ferragamo creative director welcomes back the New York-based photographer for a second time for Fall 2023, after originally joining forces for Pre-Fall 2023. This season’s campaign offering is set against Renaissance artwork from the 15th and 16th centuries, in partnership with Gallerie degli Uffizi. Models Vittoria Ceretti, Mona Tougaard, Jessica Stam, Anok Yai and Lina Zhang are joined by a handful of creative types for the campaign, who include creative consultant and strategist Zainab Jama, singer and songwriter Kelela, and sound artist Yasmina Dexter. Tyler Mitchell himself even gets in on the action, posing in front of the camera throughout the cinematic campaign offering.
For the most part, members of our forums were impressed. “The best ad of the season is born!” heralded 9sete.
“I think Mona looks stunning here! Very cool concept,” admired tjasmine.
“It’s decided. It’s official. I fully f*ck with Davis’ Ferragamo,” Lady Junon raved.
Yet not everyone, however, was so convinced. “Such a lifeless campaign,” exclaimed a disapproving kasper!.
“If you’re going to shoot against a background like this the clothes should have some semblance of romance. Where is the Italian warmth? Apparently mediocrity is perfectly acceptable so long as it sells decently,” voiced forum member GivenchyHomme.
“They should’ve brainstormed longer if this is what they came up with for the campaign, like I get the vision but the execution is so poor,” said fenty.
