Over recent seasons, Nicolas Ghesquière has had a select few on speed dial to lens his various different advertising campaigns for Louis Vuitton. As a result, the storied French fashion house’s most recent campaign imagery has been lensed by Ethan James Green, Glen Luchford and David Sims. Ghesquière calls upon Sims once again with the unveiling of the Spring 2024 campaign. Models Loli Bahia, Ida Heiner, Hejia Li and actress Cynthia Erivo assemble before the British photographer’s lens and pose high a top a glass-fronted building on location in Milan. The clear blue skies and Milanese backdrop make for an arresting backdrop against Ghesquière’s Parisian-inspired collection.

Read the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“I do like how bright, fresh, and clean this campaign is shaping up to be! Ghesquière’s mainline Vuitton campaigns tend to be over-complicated in terms of concepts, so the sight of something more minimal is pleasing me to no end. The coloring and lighting are both lovely, love those clear blue skies and the graphic architecture of the building,” admired vogue28.

In complete agreement was dontbeadrag, echoing: “These are good, and I neither am a fan of Louis Vuitton nor of Nicolas, but when it works – it works. Cold and sterile environment, but that sunlight and the styling just work. It is a little basic and simple, but in all the right places.”

Not everyone, however, was so forthcoming. “What a tragic campaign. David Sims is so boring, contrived and so horribly commercial. A joke!” stated 90sFan.

“Insanely cheap,” called out lookatme.

It has been a never-ending guessing game over on theFashionSpot forums for months. Speculating, just as to who might crop up on the cover of Edward Enninful’s final issue of British Vogue. Since June 2023, upon the news of Enninful departing the British fashion bible after a rather remarkable 7-year stint, names like Beyoncé were thrown around with regards to his final cover star. Needless to say, we didn’t see this one coming…

Forgoing just the one cover star, Enninful called upon a whopping 40 of his chosenVogue icons for his concluding cover. As a result, Karen Elson, Irina Shayk, Laverne Cox, Anya Taylor-Joy, Serena Williams, Rina Sawayama, Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Cindy Crawford, Amber Valletta, Precious Lee, Jodie Comer, Gemma Chan, Adut Akech, Vittoria Ceretti, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Cata Delevingne, Jane Fonda, Gigi Hadid, Linda Evangelista, Adwoa Aboah, Miley Cyrus, Paloma Elsesser, Iman, Victoria Beckham, Ariana DeBose, Jameela Jamil, Oprah, Selma Hayek, Christy Turlington, Salma Blair, Maya Jama, Kate Moss, Cynthia Erivo, Simone Ashley, Lila Moss, Anok Yai, Kaia Gerber, Naomi Campbell and Dua Lipa grace the cover. The women flocked together in New York, and assemble for a group photograph before the lens of Steven Meisel.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Thank you, Edward. Thank you fashion gods! It’s a very interesting mix of cover subjects, some greats, some less than greats. Everyone looks fantastic, not a single woman looks unflattering here and that’s exactly what you want in a group cover, ” approved aracic.

LastNight was of the same mind, echoing: “I really like it! I think it’s quite striking and impressive to get all those people together.”

“I mean it’s a nice flex for him to have all these names on his last issue, but the composition is awful,” chimed in Marc10.

Thiago commented: “The Photoshop is terrible but that’s a proper farewell – Steven Meisel and legends!”

“It’s insane that they managed to actually get everyone there and still made it look like it’s a completely fake, Photoshopped group picture,” exclaimed lookatme.

“The cover isn’t groundbreaking enough, but you can’t make me hate it. Edward is such a mastermind, and I will surely miss his Vogue era,” shared forum member crmsn.

Caioherreo most definitely wasn’t all too impressed, describing the cover as “super boring” but do you agree?

UK Vogue August 2022 by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

We’re starting to lose count of the amount of barriers Edward Enninful has broken down at British Vogue. From giving the magazine’s front cover to models who are refashioning the face of the industry to embracing forces of change, he sure knows how to make a difference. Now for August 2022, the British fashion bible celebrates Pride by featuring 12 “revolutionary” faces of the LGBTQ+ community. The lineup includes Cara Delevingne, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana DeBose, Jordan Barrett, Munroe Bergdorf, Sheerah Ravindren, Cameron Lee Phan, Aweng Chuol, Nathan Westling, Valentina Sampaio, Gottmik and Kai-Isaiah Jamal shot by photographic duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

Members of our forums aren’t impressed, though. “It is like that horrendous collage W cover…” declared MagFan the moment the cover dropped.

“I don’t get why the right group is so separated from the rest on the cover,” critiqued mikel.

“It looks like a press shot for the latest series of Big Brother,” 8eight pointed out.

“Sadly, this looks terrible. This falls flat and is a complete letdown coming from Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. The group is disjointed and completely random and it indeed looks like supplement material… It could’ve been so much better!” exclaimed aracic.

“Wow, the closer I look at the photo the worse it gets in terms of Photoshop. Can they still not manage basic editing in 2022?” asked annikad.

“Pretty bad when a Vogue cover looks like a rudimentary catalog spread for the local department store,” added dfl-001.

“It looks like a Gap campaign,” JoCaderone chimed in.

2022 Met Gala

After skipping 2020 and scaling back a bit in 2021, we expected the 2022 Met Gala to really bring the drama. Not to mention the fashion. Thankfully, we aren’t disappointed.

Continuing the theme of “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” there was plenty of gilded glamour. There were corsets, structured skirts and opera gloves galore. But there were several stars who either downright ignored the theme or tried to put a modern spin on it. For example, Janelle Monáe’s Ralph Lauren look was a futuristic interpretation.

We spotted a surprising amount of cut-out accents. We were also taken aback by the sheer volume of see-through sections. (See what we did there?) Kim Kardashian certainly turned heads decked out in Marilyn Monroe’s iconic Jean Louis dress.

Both Blake Lively and Sydney Sweeney did an outfit reveal on the red carpet. The former rocked two Atelier Versace creations that paid tribute to the Statue of Liberty. The latter transformed her Tory Burch gown into a minidress.

Suits were also popular. Cara Delevingne, Irina Shayk and Chloë Grace Moretz all stepped out in striking style. It was actually a welcome contrast to all the dynamic dresses.

It’s definitely worth your time to scroll down to see all the crazy, sexy and totally cool looks from the 2022 Met Gala.

2022 Grammy AwardsWe have to admit that we always expect the unexpected when it comes to red carpet fashion at the Grammy Awards. This year we were surprised at the relatively tame nature of most of the looks. Sure, there were a few crazy getups. But most attendees at the 2022 Grammy Awards opted to go glam. Not that we’re complaining. Lady Gaga and Halsey went Old Hollywood rocking Armani Privé and Pressiat, respectively. Olivia Rodrigo’s Vivienne Westwood gown was enhanced by opera gloves and chokers. Tiffany Haddish sparkled in a glitzy Prada number. Dua Lipa’s elaborate black dress was instantly recognizable as a Versace thanks to all the Medusa accents. And H.E.R. took inspiration from Aretha Franklin for her custom Dundas jumpsuit. Some stars took a more minimal approach. Hailey Bieber wore a sleek Saint Laurent column gown. Her layered necklace and delicate earrings were also pretty understated. The strappy neckline of Lily Aldridge’s black dress was anything but basic. It also perfectly complemented those strappy sandals. A couple of suits really turned heads. Brandi Carlile’s Hugo Boss ensemble was blinged out, including the waistband and sides of the trousers. Elle King topped off her red set with an enormous hat. Scroll down to see all of the can’t-miss looks from the 2022 Grammy Awards.

2022 Oscars

Red was clearly trending on the red carpet at the 2022 Oscars. Seems like most attendees got the memo that the fiery color was going to be big at the ceremony. Everyone from Kirsten Dunst to Tracee Ellis Ross to Jennifer Garner flaunted striking gowns in various crimson hues.

Another trend? Sparkles. Lupita Nyong’o really shined in a heavily embellished Prada number. She even sported complementary gold eye makeup. Zendaya’s Valentino haute couture cropped shirt and sequin skirt combo was giving off Sharon Stone and Carolina Herrera vibes. Not that we’re complaining, of course. Jessica Chastain also made a statement in a flashy Gucci gown. Emilia Jones’ glitzy Dolce & Gabbana was pretty epic, too.

Skin was certainly in. Thigh-high slits, plunging necklines and see-through skirts offered plenty of peekaboo moments. Kristen Stewart even rocked short shorts courtesy of Chanel.

There was also lots of blinding bling. Tiffany Haddish’s necklace tied into her Dolce & Gabbana gown perfectly. Rachel Zegler’s choker really upped the ante on her custom Christian Dior haute couture creation. And Zendaya’s stacks of Bvlgari Serpenti Viper diamond bracelets on both arms were something to behold.

2022 Screen Actors Guild AwardsIt feels like forever since there’s been a red carpet event. (In actuality, it’s only been a few months since The Fashion Awards 2021.) But the glamour was definitely back in full force at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards. And we’re certainly not complaining one bit. It’s a great way to kick off the slightly delayed 2022 award season. The usual stars really shined bright. Cate Blanchett and Lady Gaga both wowed in Armani Privé. Elle Fanning ditched a dress in favor of a gorgeous Gucci ensemble. Jessica Chastain also suited up in Christian Dior haute couture. Julianna Margulies and Jada Pinkett Smith both went the vintage route wearing Narciso Rodriguez and Gareth Pugh respectively. A couple of newcomers also turned heads. CODA actress Emilia Jones stunned in a truly spectacular Givenchy gown. Breakout Squid Game star and model HoYeon Jung rocked an embellished Louis Vuitton creation along with a matching hair accessory. The jewelry was mesmerizing, too. Gaga was decked out in diamonds courtesy of Tiffany & Co. While Selena Gomez’s Bvlgari Serpenti choker was elegance personified. Her statement ring was pretty striking as well. UK Harper’s Bazaar December 2021/January 2022 : The 'Women of the Year' Issue

It’s that time of year again. British Harper’s Bazaar unveils its annual and highly-anticipated “Women of the Year” issue. Last year’s lineup included Lashana Lynch, Gillian Anderson and Daisy Edgar-Jones. While Cate Blanchett and Helena Bonham Carter shared the spotlight in 2019. Following in their footsteps for 2021 is Claire Foy, Jodie Comer, Cynthia Erivo and Sarah Snook who star on a series of special collectible covers for the magazine’s double December 2021/January 2022 edition — and we want them all. Claire is all smiles for Erik Madigan Heck (below left), Agata Pospieszynska captures an ethereal Jodie (below right), while Cynthia (bottom left) and Sarah (bottom right) both appear elegant before the lens of Alexi Lubomirski.

“Claire’s cover feels like quintessential British Harper’s Bazaar during the festive period, but Jodie’s is the standout of the bunch, if you ask me. She always photographs so beautifully and this is no exception — that cover image is nothing short of flawless,” raved vogue28.

“Love all the covers,” Urban Stylin chimed in.

“Erik’s cover is gorgeous… The others are good as well,” admitted Benn98.

Horizontina is clearly a fan: “Alexi understood the assignment.”

“Sarah’s cover is the best,” proclaimed caioherrero.

2021 Emmy Awards

For the 2021 Emmy Awards, stars definitely wanted to stand out. From notice-me shades like highlighter hues to blinding sparkles, there was certainly a lot to take in. Not that we’re complaining.

There were also plenty of striking accents. We’re talking opera gloves with finger openings to flaunt some serious stiletto nails courtesy of Emma Corrin and Miu Miu. Not to mention a matching bonnet. Kerry Washington rocked a corset-enhanced Etro dress. Plus, go big or go home sleeves a la Sarah Paulson and Billy Porter.

The jewelry game was strong, too. Yara Shahidi’s Cartier necklace almost upstaged her gorgeous green Christian Dior haute couture dress. Then there were the stunning earrings. Take for example Michaela Coel’s perfect pearl danglers.

2021 Met GalaWith a theme like “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” we weren’t sure what to expect when it came to the 2021 Met Gala. Unlike previous years when the dress code was more established, many attendees decided to go rogue. Sure, some went with patriotic options. Hence red and blue being popular choices. But a large percentage just dressed to impress, er, stand out. There were plenty of American designers on display. Jennifer Lopez served up some real 70s glamour in Ralph Lauren. Kate Hudson’s pink Michael Kors Collection ensemble also turned heads. And Amanda Gorman’s blue Vera Wang stunner was a striking nod to the Statue of Liberty. There was certainly a lot of skin. The naked dress was back in a big way with everyone from Kendall Jenner to Irina Shayk indulging in the trend. Others decided to flash flesh in far more strategic ways.
